THE EARLY YEARS.
I was born on December 27th, so yes, I am a "Merry Christmas / Happy Birthday" present guy. I am an only child. My early memories of family friends and a few relatives really stand out to me when it comes to shaping my thoughts, attitudes and philosophies on life and basketball.
As stated on the "My Family" page, my family is Moravian.
I grew up in the Moravian Church and the majority of my parent's friends came from the church members who knew them in Nicaragua, helped them make the transition from Nicaragua to the United States, or they met once they were settled in Winston-Salem.
With the Moravian religion strong in the parts of Nicaragua where my parents grew up, and a number of mission folks from Winston-Salem (home of Old Salem, where the Moravians settled) befriending them on their trips to Central America, it was almost a given that when my parents decided to leave their homeland that this place, Winston-Salem, would be where they would move.
You can read below about my parent's reasoning(s) for leaving Nicaragua. They were married by Parson Robert Iobst in the late 1960s.
